Their owner is the boy named Andy who loves playing with them and is an imaginative kid. The two anthropomorphic toys become tough rivals. The rivalry revolves around the idea of who is dearer to Andy between them. From being rivals, they developed an unexpected friendship that made them work together during difficult times became the best of friends.

The film is set on the mind of an 11-year-old girl named Riley who lived in California but moved in Minnesota along with her family. It centers on 5 different characters named Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear— each of them represent the 5 diverse emotions of people. The story takes a turn when most core memories of Riley where touched by Sadness. As a result, Riley became sad when she remembers those memories instead of becoming happy. Joy argued her way through it with Sadness and they end up being sucked by the tube to the memory island leaving the three emotions at their headquarters. The journey made Joy realize how important Sadness is to Riley’s persona and development, making them work hand-in-hand together to fix what was broken.

They struggle on how to conceal their powers, especially the kids, in order to continue living a normal life and honor the mandate of the government. However, the pillar of the family called Mr. Incredible has a burning desire to use his powers for to protect people in danger. That desire created the conflict of the story and made each of his family members to use their powers to save him from being held captive.
